River Yarners go to Canberra

The yarned river is now (19 Feb-10 April, 2022) on show at the Canberra Contemporary Art Space. It's a great honour to have been asked by curator Alexander Boynes to participate in the Carbon Neutral exhibition. It's a group show exploring how we might continue to practice art and craft in the era of climate change.

On Saturday March 12, 2022, five or six of us will be at the gallery holding one of our regular yarning sessions, where we chat and add to our river - which is now running at over 100 metres in total length (depending on which bits are included and how it's stretched).

We're inviting interested yarners to sit with us and crochet or knit or weave or maybe do macrame knots? Or sew? Anything you'd like to add to our river. All welcome, from absolute beginners (we'll teach you a simple stitch or two) to the more experienced. Or, if you prefer, work on your own bit of "craftivism" as we chat.

We will be there from 12 noon until 4pm on Saturday March 12, 2022. The address is 44 Queen Elizabeth Terrace, Parkes, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
